Our team
Friendly, experienced, and rooted in tradition — our whole team at Plaza Barbershop works together to create a welcoming, no-frills experience for every customer.
With a shared commitment to precision cuts, genuine conversation, and personal care, they make sure everyone who walks in feels right at home.
Valerie, Owner
Valerie Vorpahl, owner of the Plaza Barbershop, brings 43 years of experience to the barber chair and a deep appreciation for the classic barbershop experience. Val began her career in Fond du Lac and purchased her first shop, The Hairloft in Brownsville, in 1989. Over the years she managed several shops across the region, as far south as Brown Deer, before returning to West Bend where she feels most at home. In 2014, Val and her daughter-in-law purchased Plaza Barbershop and proudly continue to offer traditional, no-fluff services that have served the community since the plaza opened in 1968.
Brittany
Brittany is a West Bender with over 15 years barbering experience. Trained as an apprentice, she enjoys doing flattop and mullets. She specializes in all things barbering. Brittany aspires to learn new techniques, keeping up on new trends, and continuing to give classic hair cuts to our customers.
Ellen
With over 40 years behind the chair, Ellen is a seasoned barber and hairstylist who values both tradition and staying current. Her specialty is the classic flattop. Her commitment to great customer service is evident in every customer interaction. Ellen genuinely enjoys helping people look better and leave feeling their best.
Lucy
Lucy is the official shop dog and a beloved part of the Plaza Barbershop experience. She greets guests with respectful enthusiasm, offers complimentary kisses, and shows off a trick or two when she’s not napping. Lucy enjoys sitting with customers, bringing a little extra comfort and companionship to every visit. She’s especially fond of treats, with bacon-flavored ones at the top of her list. Lucy had five puppies in 2020, and looks forward to their occasional visits, turning an ordinary day into a little family reunion.
